NEWS - PRESS RELEASE: PULLMAN MELBOURNE ON THE PARK HONOURED WITH DESIGN AWARD

Published date: 17/05/2022

The Australasia-Pacific Hotel Design Awards celebrate excellence in hotel interior design for projects located in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, that were completed and opened during 2021.

“Pullman Melbourne on the Park has a long legacy of providing first-class accommodation to busy business travellers, excited tourists and energetic sports fans, and we’re thrilled that the Australasia-Pacific Hotel Design Awards recognise our commitment to continuing to deliver an exceptional guest experience,” says Erkin Ayetkin, General Manager for Pullman Melbourne on the Park.

“As international restrictions ease, and with the AFL season and cultural events in full swing, we’re excited to welcome guests back to experience our hotel’s incredible renovation for themselves.”

The hotel’s refurbishment was designed by leading architects DKO, who were influenced by the hotel’s iconic location at the edge of Melbourne’s famous Fitzroy Gardens and a short stroll from the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Vibrant city skyline and lush park views are framed at every turn through the introduction of metal shrouds that act like frames transforming the world-famous views into works of art. Each room has a window chaise to relax and enjoy the view.

The renovation included 19 floors of completely upgraded Superior, Premium and Deluxe rooms and suites as well as a new Executive Lounge and William Clarke Sky Villa, positioning the Pullman Melbourne on the Park as one of Melbourne’s premium hotels.

The latest renovation follows earlier investment to transform the ground floor lobby, reception, and Cliveden Bar and Dining areas of the hotel.

The Australasia-Pacific Hotel Design Awards were announced in Adelaide last week as a part of the Australasian Hotel Industry Conference & Exhibition Conference, and recognise projects that demonstrate design innovation, a commitment to sustainability design practices and deliver exceptional guest experience.

Judges took into consideration a number of key criteria for the awards, including:

- Design Concept – conceptual response to the brief

- Function of the Space – space planning and functional performance

- Impact - that the design impresses guests, clients and industry

- Disciplines – design utilises diverse design disciplines, such as lighting, sound and colour

- Sustainability - sustainable design in procurement and operations.

Pullman Melbourne on the Park is located at 192 Wellington Parade in East Melbourne, opposite the MCG, Rod Laver Arena and Melbourne Park precinct. It is a popular destination and the ‘Home of Sports’ to host teams and spectators attending AFL, NRL, Cricket and the Australian Open tennis.
